An Innovative Expedition to Copenhagen

We’ve just returned from a study trip to Copenhagen!

We had the opportunity to visit places and institutions that drive social innovation and build local communities. The Nørrebro neighborhood was particularly inspiring—not long ago, it was considered one of the most troubled areas in Denmark, but today it’s a space brimming with grassroots initiatives and creative solutions.|

Among other places, we visited the Thoravej 29 art center, the modular student housing at CPH Village, and Urban 13—a unique space for social integration built beneath a highway.

We also stopped by Christiania—an alternative residential neighborhood that has been in existence for over 50 years, based on community, rental housing, and the social engagement of its residents. It is a place that is constantly seeking ways to develop in a manner that meets the needs of future generations.

We’re returning with our heads full of inspiration regarding zero-waste initiatives, community building, and models of cooperation that function under various institutional conditions.
